Austin Choro Club

The Austin Choro Club is a community of musicians in Austin dedicated to playing the traditional music of Brazilian Choro.  We host a monthly “roda” – an open, collaborative circle that brings together amateur and professional players.  The focus is on learning, listening, and making music together in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.

Our monthly Roda is held in the afternoon at Batch Craft Beer and Kolaches (3220 Manor, Austin, TX 78723) every 3rd Saturday of the month after a concert by local choro band, Caros Amigos.

Membership is $10/month and includes two songs sent at the start of each month to learn and perform at the monthly roda, subscription to the newsletter, and updates on any choro club events.  All ages and skill levels are welcome; basic music reading is recommended.   To sign up for the next monthly roda, please click the “Book & Sign-Up” button below.

Traditional choro has a wide range of instrumentation and all are encouraged to join, from woodwind to brass, plucked string to percussion.  For more information about choro music, please visit wikipedia.org/wiki/choro

Private one-on-one or group choro lessons are also available at private studios.  Please contact Julie Koidin at brazilflute (at) yahoo (dot) com or Adam Carney at adam(at) adamcarneymusic (dot) com to inquire.
