The Austin Choro Club is a community of musicians in Austin dedicated to playing the traditional music of Brazilian Choro. We host a monthly “roda” – an open, collaborative circle that brings together amateur and professional players. The focus is on learning, listening, and making music together in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Our monthly Roda is held in the afternoon at Batch Craft Beer and Kolaches (3220 Manor, Austin, TX 78723) every 3rd Saturday of the month after a concert from 1:00-2:00 pm by our local choro band, Caros Amigos.
Membership is free and includes two songs sent at the start of each month to learn and perform at the monthly roda, subscription to our monthly newsletter, and updates on any choro club events. To participate in the montly roda – just come on by Batch and join in with Caros Amigos in our second set (2:00-3:00 pm). All ages and skill levels are welcome; basic music reading is recommended.
